TV Stand After Paint |
We simply don't have the time to build an adequate tv stand right now with everything else we're trying to accomplish outside before the weather turns cold, so finding this little gem was an unexpected surprise, especially since it cost me only $5.00!
I had gone to a local estate sale last week in East China and found a lovely Lane cedar chest, which I had been searching for since spring and couldn't find. I needed a cedar chest, which is a perfect place to store my quilts when they're not being used. (I'll post those photos on a separate blog post.) At that same estate sale, I found this great corner cabinet, which had two side doors that resembled shutters. It was exactly what I had been looking for to replace our makeshift tv stand. It had seen better days and was scratched up, but I knew that a coat of fresh, white paint would make it look brand new, so I removed the hardware and gave it a good scuff, then primed and painted it with semi-gloss white paint. I was right.
This once ugly, useless cabinet now serves as a perfect spot in the corner of our living room to keep our tv on, with space beneath for the cable box and modem and two handy hidden spots for extra items and the many color books we've acquired and love to work on in our "spare" time. All in all, a great find and one that will work until we can built something permanent. You never know what you'll find at those estate or garage sales! That's the best part...the element of surprise.
